CleanCut works with any app that plays through the Apple TV’s built-in player, which is most of them. What each app can do on its own, and what CleanCut adds, differs per app, so each one below has its own page.

Prime Video

Hulu

Coverage in these apps varies by title. When CleanCut can’t filter something, it says so on screen instead of filtering nothing quietly.

Disney+MUBIPluto TVSTARZ

Never: Netflix and Max

Both ship their own video player on the Apple TV instead of using the system one, and those players report nothing: no title, no position. There is no signal for any filter to act on, and no update on our side changes that. The full explanation is short. If Netflix is most of your watching, CleanCut isn’t the right buy.

Live TV, in any app

A live broadcast has no script and no subtitle file ahead of time, and its language is unscripted, so nothing can be prepared for it. That rules out live sports and live channels everywhere: Peacock’s sports, the CBS feed in Paramount+, Hulu + Live TV, Tubi’s channels, the AMC stream. On-demand content in the same apps is covered.

Checking an app that isn’t listed

Start playing something in it and open the Now Playing controls on your iPhone or in the Apple TV’s Control Center. A title and a moving progress bar mean the app uses the system player and CleanCut can work with it. Blank controls mean it doesn’t.
